Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has said he is ‘unsure’ if Chelsea target Ben Chilwell has played his last game for the club, but has reiterated that the club have no intention to sell the England international this summer.
It was revealed this week that injury will keep Chilwell out of action until at least the start of next season, as Leicester attempt to make the Champions League for just the second time in their history.
Frank Lampard has already made moves in the transfer market ahead of this summer, completing deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
Chilwell has emerged as another target for the Blues after impressing for both club and country this season.
The England international has been out of action since leaving the pitch at half-time during the win against Crystal Palace with the defender set to miss the Foxes’ final two games of the season.
When asked during his pre-match press conference, ahead of the Premier League match against Tottenham, if Chilwell has played his last game in a Leicester shirt, Rodgers gave an honest answer.
"I'm not sure. He's a Leicester player and not one that we want to lose so I'm quite relaxed on it,” he said.
"We've got a fantastic squad and one that we want to keep together.”
However, the Leicester boss did give a more defiant response when again questioned on the full-back.
"There's no intention to sell Ben Chilwell and absolutely no need to sell. The message is: He's not for sale,” he added.
Chilwell has played a total of 33 games in all competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing a further four assists.
The 23-year-old has also become a regular in Gareth Southgate’s England team, becoming the first choice left-back for his country.
