Brendan Rodgers' Leicester hammer Southampton in record-breaking win as he guides side to second in the Premier League

Brendan Rodgers has led his Leicester City side to second in the table after an incredible 9-0 win at St Mary's Stadium.

It's the joint biggest win in Premier League history, equalling Manchester United 's 9-0 victory over Ipswich in 1995 and beating the same club's 1999, 1-8 win over Nottingham Forest as the biggest away win.

The loss drops Southampton into the relegation mire and piles pressure on boss Ralph Hasenhuttl who will have some explaining to do in his post-match press duties.

The Saints were already a goal down after Ben Chilwell's early strike when Ryan Bertrand was sent off for an over the ball challenge.

Goals from Youri Tielemans, James Maddison and two hat-tricks from Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez sealed the rout.

It's still some way off the club's record victory - a 13-0 win over Notts Olympic in 1894, bit it's still an incredinble feat.

Rodgers ' heroics have seen him linked with a number of top jobs down south as he continues to spectacularly re-establish his reputation after a calamitous end to his time at Liverpool .
