Brendan Rodgers leads Leicester to Premier League summit as former Celtic boss' magic continues

Former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has taken his Leicester City side to the top of the English Premier League after beating Chelsea 2-0.

The Foxes dominated the game against Frank Lampard's struggling side and goals from Wilfred Ndidi and the outstanding James Maddison gave them a deserved victory.

It means Rodgers men are a point clear of Manchester United in second place, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's resurgent team have a game in hand.

Only champions Liverpool have now scored more goals than the free-flowing table-toppers as they look to secure a Champions League place after last season's final day disappointment.

Rodgers was delighted to seal victory against the Londoners at the 16th time of asking.

He told Sky: "I thought it was a very good performance.

"Obviously they are a hugely talented team and you see thier individual quality but I thought as a team collectively we were excellent.

"We are a real threat. Harvey Barnes was sensational. I thought we were very good.

"You can see the maturity in the performance as well and that's the pleasing.

"Tonight it was a really good and professional performance with some real good moments of football."
