Former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers once described Ange Postecoglou as an 'outstanding' coach who reminded him of himself after the pair met during a pre-season tour.
Back in the summer of 2013, Rodgers was in charge of former club Liverpool, and he took the Reds on a summer trip Down Under to Australia, where he came face-to-face with the current frontrunner for the vacant Parkhead manager's job.
Eight years ago, Postecoglou was in charge Melbourne victory, and Rodgers couldn't help but be effusive in his praise after they discussed tactics and coaching methods with one another.
As reported by Fox Sports, Rodgers said of his opponent at the time: “Melbourne Victory is a very good side, I’ve got to say that their coach is outstanding.
“I’ve had a couple of chats with him and to see his team play, he’s very similar to myself and he believes the game should be played in a certain way.
“You can see the team is very well coached, so we knew it was going to be a tough game for us.”
Postecoglou has been heavily linked with the Celtic job since Friday when previous favourite for the role, Eddie Howe, backed out of the running.
As we've told you previously, some reports are even claiming Postecoglou has already agreed to succeed Neil Lennon, with an announcement due this week at some point.
