Brendan Rodgers installed as shock next Celtic manager favourite

Brendan Rodgers has been installed as the new favourite to become Celtic's new manager.

The former Hoops boss is now out in front with bookmakers Betfair, having overtaken David Moyes.

Ange Postecoglou is poised to be announced as the new No.1 at Tottenham.

The Australian is reported to have verbally agreed terms with the Spurs hierarchy, and it now all hinges on the two clubs striking a deal.

The 57-year-old spent two years in Glasgow after arriving from Japanese football, and is set to earn a dream move to the Premier League.

He will earn a lucrative contract, tasked with rebuilding Spurs in a similar fashion to how he got Celtic back on track.

As we await official confirmation, attentions begin to turn to who will replace Postecoglou at Celtic Park.

And it would appear a familiar face could be set for a return.

Rodgers, who has been out of work since his sacking at Leicester a couple of months ago, is the bookies' favourite to take over the reins.

It would certainly be a controversial appointment, given the fashion he left for the King Power Stadium in 2019 and the reaction this was met with by Celtic fans.

But there's no doubt that if it was the Irishman, Celtic would have another top manager on their hands.

Rodgers has recently watched Celtic games over the past few months.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Brendan Rodgers is the new 5/4 favourite to be the next Celtic manager, having been as big as 9/1 to return when the market went live last week.

"David Moyes had been the early frontrunner to replace Tottenham-bound Ange Postecoglou, but trails Rodgers at 15/2, along with Enzo Maresca and John Kennedy.

"Elsewhere, Celtic legend Scott Brown and Scotland boss Steve Clarke are both 17/2 to get the job.”

Full list:

Brendan Rodgers: 5/4 (was 13/8 on Sunday)

Enzo Maresca, David Moyes, John Kennedy: 15/2

Steve Clarke, Scott Brown: 17/2

Kjetil Knudsen, Neil Lennon, Graham Potter, Jesse Marsch: 14/1
