Brendan Rodgers hails Leicester turnaround of 'big talent' Kelechi Iheanacho after Carabao Cup semi-final goal

Brendan Rodgers believes Kelechi Iheanacho may have turned a corner in his Leicester City career after sparing the team's blushes in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Leicester had looked on course for a first leg semi-final defeat at home to Aston Villa after Frederic Guilbert put the visitors in front.

However, the Foxes hit back 16 minutes from time through Iheanacho, who has been reborn this season under Rodgers after scoring six goals when he managed just two last year.

“Kelechi is a big talent. He didn't play a lot of football at Manchester City and it takes a bit of time to adapt,” said Rodgers.

“But since I've come in his confidence has grown and grown and we believe in him and believe in his talent and this season he has really come to the fore.

“He works so hard every day. He's either making a goal or scoring a goal now and he works so hard in his pressing game.

“He was a threat when he came on against Villa and I'm delighted for him.”
