Brendan Rodgers fronts up to Manchester United rumour as former Celtic boss offers 'brutal honesty'

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has shrugged off reports touting him as the next Manchester United manager.

Former Celtic boss Rodgers has been named among the frontrunners to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian is coming under increasing pressure following the 5-0 trouncing at the hands of Liverpool, as they prepare to face Tottenham on Saturday.

However, Rodgers insists he is only concentrating on the Foxes' clash with Arsenal rather than the state of play at Manchester United.

When asked about what he though of Solskjaer's position and the prospect of replacing him, frustrated Rodgers said: "I don't even think about it - and that's the brutal honesty.

"I’m sure the supporters are probably tired of it. At Leicester, there is always a link.

"My focus is always here with Leicester and developing the football club on to that next level, where you're competing for European football and challenging for honours.

"Everyone here at the club, from the chief executive to the director of football - staff, players - we're all very much on the same path, same vision."

It's the second time this month that Rodgers has been touted for a move away from Leicester, having previously been named amongst the bookmakers favourites to succeed Steve Bruce at Newcastle United.

Rodgers made it clear he didn't plan on leaving for an English Premier League rival at the time, stating: "I’ve got a contract until 2025. I absolutely love being here [at Leicester].

“I’m very fortunate. I’ve got a great chief executive who runs the club and a director of football I have a close relationship with.

"And a group of players I really enjoy working with. We have an infrastructure here that allows us to compete.

"For me, as long as they don’t want to move me, I’m very happy here."
