Brendan Rodgers fires Liverpool a title warning as he backs Leicester to 'pounce'

Confident Brendan Rodgers insists Leicester City will be in position to strike if Liverpool lose grip of their Premier League dominance.

The former Anfield boss has earned rave reviews for his work with the Foxes and they are the closest challengers to Jurgen Klopp's runaway leaders.

Leicester are eight points behind and offer and appear the only side capable of catching Liverpool with champions Manchester City off the pace after an up and down start to the season.

And the former Celtic manager has total faith his team can keep pace with a manic fixture schedule on the horizon.

He said: "Liverpool have got everything there, they are eight points clear and have been consistently outstanding over the last couple of seasons.

'They've lost one league game in 18 months.

"Everything is there for them. I think every other team behind has got to try and be close enough that if anything happens, you're ready to pounce. But until that (point), you've got to focus on your own game and look to keep developing.

"The pressure will be put on you from various sides but you have to control that. For the players you make sure they go out and don't think too much about winning, but performing. We know that we can perform well and have a good chance of getting results."
