Brendan Rodgers feels the Leicester heat as rotten 15-game run leaves Champions League dream in turmoil

Concerned Brendan Rodgers faces a sweat after his Leicester side stumbled again in their push for a Champions League place.

The Foxes lost 2-1 to Everton on Wednesday after Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson netted before Kelechi Iheanacho's consolation strike in the second.

Leicester enjoyed a 14-point gap over Wolves and Manchester United in December but both rejuvenated sides now sit only three points behind with Chelsea primed to leapfrog them in third if they defeat West Ham.

It's a sobering run for Rodgers after rebuilding his reputation south of the border following the stuttering run that led to him being axed by Liverpool in October 2015.

Rodgers enjoyed two trophy-laden seasons with Celtic before his shock move to Leicester in 2019 and his decision to exit his boyhood club reaped rewards as he had Leicester ahead of Manchester City up until Christmas.

But that rousing run, that evoked memories of Claudio Ranieri's ultimate underdogs, has been hard to maintain and now the 47-year-old must find a solution.

The stats make for alarming reading with Leicester winning four, drawing four and losing seven of their last 15 Premier League encounters.

And their misery is compounded by the fact their three other rivals for a top four finish have come racing out the blocks since the beautiful game exited cold storage.

They were tipped by many as one of the teams who would cope best with playing behind closed doors due to the forensic coaching style of the Irishman.

But they have looked lethargic and one-paced in every fixture since their return with star pair Jamie Vardy and James Maddison below their best.

There's still time to turn things around but clashes with Arsenal, Tottenham and a mouthwatering fixture with Manchester United will define Rodgers' first full season back in the top flight.
