Brendan Rodgers explains why he snubbed Tottenham interest to stay at Leicester

Brendan Rodgers has snubbed interest from Tottenham and confirmed he is staying at Leicester.

Rodgers was a leading candidate for the Spurs job but the 48-year-old has ruled himself of the running to succeed Jose Mourinho.

It is another blow for Tottenham after Bayern Munich confirmed the appointment of their top target Julian Nagelsmann as head coach on Tuesday.

Spurs will now have to turn to other targets, including Ajax coach Erik ten Hag and Ralf Rangnick.

Rodgers, who is on course to guide Leicester into the Champions League and has also got them to the FA Cup Final, said: “Tottenham is a great club, one of the biggest clubs in Britain but for me I’m just in a really, really happy place in my life.

“I’m very happy here. I have a huge respect here for the players, the board and I really feel that I want to continue my work here.

“I’ve got a really strong relationship with the board. We work very closely together. I’ve got a set of players that give me their heart and soul every single day and also I can see a future here in terms of the development of the squad.

“Now for the next period of years let’s see if we can roll that out now, can we continually evolve.”
