Brendan Rodgers explains decision to change full Celtic XI vs Al Ahli

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has explained his decision to make 11 changes to his starting lineup tonight.

The Parkhead club were beaten 5-1 by Ajax on Thursday evening in their first Como Cup outing.

Just 48 hours later, Rodgers' men are back in action, and such limited time between games means he has made several alterations.

He told Celtic TV: "We've changed the team.

"Obviously, playing Thursday and then playing again tonight, we have to change the team around.

"It's going to be great fitness for the players, and of course, you always want to win.

"I think the game the other night was the third of three tough games. We looked a little bit leggy by the end of it, but that's good, that's why you have this period of the season. And that's why you've got to just keep pushing through that. It's the same tonight."

Celtic XI to face Al Ahli: Sinisalo, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Trusty, Inamura, Bernardo, McCowan, Engels, Forrest, Tilio, Kenny.

Subs: Schmeichel, Doohan, Rice, Scales, Nygren, Idah, Yang, Yamada, Osmand, Summers, Maeda, Hatate, McGregor, Murray, Donovan, Ralston, Welsh, Tierney.

Al Ahli starting XI: Mendy, Rayan, Demiral, Ibanez, Dams, Eid, Kessie, Fahad, Mahrez, Galeno, Toney.

Subs: Al-sanbi, Abdo, Bakor, Al-Hurayji, Sumayhan, Al-Buraikan, Yaseen, Majrashi, Balaboid, Ziyad jr, Ramiz, Khaibari, Ayman, Saint-Maximin.
