Brendan Rodgers expected to add former Liverpool employee to his Leicester City backroom staff

Leicester City are reportedly expected to appoint a former Liverpool club doctor ahead of the next season.

Brendan Rodgers is set add another ex- Reds employee to his backroom staff, which already includes fitness coach Glen Driscoll, who moved to Anfield with Rodgers in 2012, and Kolo Toure.

It is understood Mark Waller will become the latest individual to have represented Leicester and Liverpool as he prepares to leave his current of club doctor at Rangers to take on a similar position at the King Power Stadium. That's according to Telegraph reporter John Percy, who has claimed the Foxes have agreed compensation with the Scottish Premiership side to make this move possible.

Waller joined Liverpool in 1993 to oversee the medial department, though did not become a full-time staff member until later on that decade. The 64-year-old played an instrumental role in saving the life of former Reds boss Gerard Houllier in 2001, spotting the seriousness of the Frenchman's chest pains at the half-time interval of a match between Liverpool and Leeds.

Waller took Houllier's blood pressure and called for an ambulance, where he was treated for an emergency procedure and later returned to active management five months down the line. The pair were reunited in 2010 when Houllier was appointed Aston Villa manager, though left the club only a left later after the West Midlands club parted company with the Reds' 2000/01 treble-winning manager.

The club doctor has since worked with England under-21s and joined Rangers four years ago, operating alongside Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.
