Brendan Rodgers delivers hands-off warning to Chelsea over Ben Chilwell transfer chase

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has said that the Foxes won't be selling any of their star players during the January transfer window.

Full-back Ben Chilwell is one of the names being heavily linked with a move to Chelsea should the Blues be successful in getting the transfer ban lifted ahead of the winter window, the England man is said to be one of the Blues' top targets during January, while Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have been credited with an interest in midfielder James Maddison.

Leicester's strong start to the season has caused more interest in their players, but manager Rodgers is only worrying about adding to his squad during the next window.

“Of course there will be players linked, that’s the job of you guys [the media] and there’s lots of speculation and gossip which goes around,”he said, as reported by LeicestershireLive. “Agents have to do their work getting their clients out there.

“For me, our job is to keep what we have, which is important and, if there’s an opportunity to improve the squad [in January] we will look to do that.

“If not we will carry on with the squad we have, which is very strong. Then we’ll look at it again in the summer. But we’ll certainly not be looking to lose anyone.

“For us we want to grow. There’s a lot of development left in this squad.

“Every club will lose players at some point but we’ve absolutely no plans to lose anyone in January.

“The worst case scenario for us [at the end of January] is we’ll have the same squad as we have now, which I’m very happy with.”

LeicestershireLive also report that preliminary talks have started with Maddison over a new contract at the club, which will serve as a major boost to Leicester's hopes of keeping the England midfielder.
