Brendan Rodgers confirms Leicester could be without two key players for Arsenal clash

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that James Maddison and Ben Chilwell are both doubts to face Arsenal.

The England international pair have both played key roles in Leicester's impressive season to date, with the Foxes third in the Premier League table and on track for Champions League qualification.

But Rodgers could be without the duo for the trip to the Emirates on Tuesday night, when they face a resurgent Arsenal, who are also vying for European football.

Maddison missed Leicester's 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend with injury, whilst Chilwell had an injection in his heel before the game and received treatment midway through the half.

The left-back then disappeared down the tunnel during the first drinks break and was subsequently taken off at half-time.

“We’ve got doubts over James Maddison and Ben Chiwell," Rodgers confirmed in his pre-match press conference.

"They could be the two who could struggle. We just have to wait and see.

"Ben’s is at the bottom of his foot. It’s giving him pain. We’ll see what the specialist says. Sometimes you can play through it."

Rodgers also paid tribute to his opposite number Mikel Arteta and hailed the job that the Spaniard has done since taking charge at the Emirates.

“I think Mikel’s done very well since he came in," Rodgers added. "There’s a huge expectation. It’s a huge task but he’s done very well.

"You can see the style. His courage to develop that and they’ve played a couple of different systems, but the style has always remained the same.

"The team is very organised. They play how Arsenal supporters want them to play.

"He’s made some good steps in his early time there."
