Leicester City will be without Jonny Evans for Tuesday night's crucial Premier League clash against Chelsea.
The defender has been suffering from a heel injury of late which saw him miss games with Newcastle United as well as his former club Manchester United.
However, he was named in the Foxes' starting lineup alongside Wesley Fofana and Caglar Soyuncu in a back three for the FA Cup final against Chelsea after making good progress following the 2-1 win at Old Trafford.
But Brendan Rodgers' decision to gamble on Evans ' fitness at Wembley Stadium backfired with the defender limping off just after the half-hour mark.
As a result, Evans was immediately considered a major doubt for when the two teams meet again at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
And now the extent of his injury has been revealed with Rodgers confirming the 33-year-old won't be fit for the trip to west London.
"Jonny won’t play in the game, he’ll struggle for that," the Leicester boss told reporters. "We’ll see what he’s like for next weekend, but he won’t be involved tomorrow."
Furthermore, the Foxes could also be without winger Cengiz Under because of a hip problem, but the likes of Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho, and the cup final match-winner Youri Tielemans are all expected to be available.
"There’s nothing to report at the moment, it’s only the second day after the game," Rodgers added. "But we’ll see how they are. The only other one is Under, who’s struggling a little with his hip.
"We’ll see if he can be available."
With that said, Evans' absence is a huge blow.
Leicester's recent form, in particular defensively, without Evans would suggest their Champions League qualification hopes are in danger as they could drop out of the top-four ahead of the final day of the season if they lose and Liverpool beat Burnley the following day.
But Rodgers insists his side will give everything to seal a top-four spot.
"We enjoyed the moment on Saturday, rightly so, as it's an incredible achievement. I'm sure fans are waking up with sore heads and hoarse voices, but we've got a job to do," he added.
"There's work to be done. Physically and mentality, we'll be ready to give our very, very best and let's see where it takes us."
