Brendan Rodgers confirms he contracted coronavirus but has now recovered

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed he contracted Covid-19 earlier this year but has now recovered.

Rodgers says he and his wife were both struck down last month, and likened the symptoms to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

The Carnlough man told BBC Leicester Sport: "Me and my wife had it just after [the season] broke up. A week later I really started to struggle, I had no smell and no taste.

"I had no strength, and I really struggled, and my wife was the same as well. I got tested and we both had it. I could hardly walk."

"It reminded me of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, as you climb higher you get more breathless.

"Walking 10 yards felt very different. I went for a run, and I just couldn’t do it. I felt really weak, had no real appetite, and had a weird sensation for three weeks of having no taste."

Rodgers' Leicester City are now preparing to return to Premier League action.

It was confirmed yesterday that the English top flight will resume on June 19.

Teams have returned to training in small groups with a full round of fixtures will then take place on the weekend of June 19-20.

The Foxes' first match back will be against Watford at Vicarage Road.

"The Premier League and our clubs are proud to have incredibly passionate and loyal supporters," Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said.

"It is important to ensure as many people as possible can watch the matches at home."
