Brendan Rodgers blasted after Manchester United response amid Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pressure

Joe Cole has blasted Brendan Rodgers' reaction to questions surrounding interest from Manchester United.

The Leicester City manager was quizzed over the job at Old Trafford in his pre-Chelsea press conference despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still occupying the hot seat.

However, the pressure continues to mount for the Norwegian after a disappointing run with the Reds saw them win just one of their previous six Premier League games, including the unforgivable defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City.

“Firstly, it’s really disrespectful for you to ask the question when there is a manager in place at the club," Rodgers fired.

"Secondly, I can’t comment on it because it’s not real. I’m proud to be here at Leicester City," he added. "The only thing I’m thinking about is [facing] Chelsea and getting ready for that.

"It’s frustrating for supporters and my players, but from a personal perspective, it’s something that it’s in the modern game, but something I have no focus on whatsoever.”

The Foxes' start to the season had been underwhelming - despite the win over Manchester United in October - as they went into the clash with Chelsea 11 points off of the league leaders.

They soon found themselves in trouble after falling two goals behind within 30 minutes at the King Power Stadium.

Prior to kick-off, former Chelsea playmaker Joe Cole criticised his handling of the United talk, he said: "When he was asked about the Man United job he came for the journalist a little bit.

"He didn’t categorically say I’m staying here. I would be a little bit peeved if I was the Leicester chairman. There’s still a lot of work to be done here."
