Brendan Rodgers blames Andy Robertson for Liverpool vs Leicester melee as Ayoze Perez sparks angry scenes

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Andy Robertson celebrating Liverpool's winner was the reason behind the angry scenes that followed Leicester's defeat.

Foxes forward Ayoze Perez made a beeline for the Scotland star and it sparked a melee involving all 22 players.

Perez had to be dragged away by Jamie Vardy and Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian while the likes of Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane pulled Robertson away from the scene.

Neither player was carded at the time but the incident could lead to retrospective punishment from the FA if they deem it worth of action.

And Rodgers insisted it was a nothing incident but pointed the finger at Robertson for his reaction following the game.

He said: “According to the guys, Andy Robertson, on the final whistle, celebrated and pushed him, which he probably didn’t expect.

“He was annoyed at that. It led to a melee but it was nothing.”
