Brendan Rodgers addresses ongoing Manchester United speculation

Brendan Rodgers has once again distanced himself from the vacant Manchester United manager job.

Speculation continues to link the Carnlough man with the Old Trafford hot-seat, but Rodgers insists the rumours are "not real".

The Leicester City boss has been touted as a potential replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was sacked after last weekend's 4-1 defeat to Watford.

Former midfielder Michael Carrick is in temporary charge of first team affairs, and guided the club to a 2-0 Champions League win over Villarreal on Tuesday night.

Carrick is set to remain in place until United chiefs find a permanent solution.

Speaking before Leicester's Europa League game against Legia Warsaw, Rodgers said: “I don’t take it as anything. It’s not real.

"There’s always gossip and that will be there until they appoint a full-time manager. My commitment is to here.

"The culture here is about the development of the players, and that’s where I see it, even more so in this period.

"I respect you guys have stories to do and to create a narrative, but that doesn’t include me.”

The MEN has reported that Mauricio Pochettino would be willing to leave PSG mid-season and take up the vacant role in the Old Trafford dugout.

However, PSG have rejected an initial approach for the former Tottenham Hotspur boss and the club are looking at Ralf Rangnick as a potential interim boss alongside a number of other options.
