Brendan Gleeson transforms into Donald Trump in the new Comey Rule trailer

The new trailer for The Comey Rule has been revealed, showing Brendan Gleeson as Donald Trump for the first time.

The two-part Showtime drama takes place in the aftermath of the 2016 Presidential election, focusing on the FBI investigations into Hillary Clinton’s emails and possible Russian interference in the election.

While the preview clip keeps Gleeson’s Trump mostly hidden in the shadows, the actor can be seen wearing prosthetics and sporting the President’s trademark tan.

The relationship between Trump and FBI boss James Comey is at the heart of the trailer. After delivering one of his over-the-top handshakes in the clip, Gleeson's Trump whispers into Comey’s ear: “I look forward to working with you. Let’s take a picture.”

“People in the Bureau have it in for me, but I’m the President now,” he adds. “No-one gets treated as unfairly as I do. I need loyalty.”

Jeff Daniels stars as James Comey, who was head of the FBI in 2016. Holly Hunter, Michael Kelly and Scoot McNairy also appear on the show.

The Comedy Rule is set to air on Showtime in the US on September 27. The show has yet to receive a UK release date.
