Brendan Gleeson to play Donald Trump in new mini-series The Comey Rule

Brendan Gleeson comes over all presidential in this first look picture from new mini-series The Comey Rule.

US TV network Showtime unveiled the image and the 65-year-old’s likeness to Donald Trump is uncanny.

In the photo, the Dublin actor is seen in character as the 74-year-old US President, in silhouette, with his distinctive hair and domineering profile.

Gleeson plays the Don in the forthcoming mini-series about former FBI director James Comey.

The drama will air in late November following the US presidential elections.

The dramatisation of Comey’s bestselling book, A Higher Loyalty, also stars Jeff Daniels as Comey. The first part will look at the earliest days of the Russia investigation, the FBI’s probe into Hillary Clinton’s emails and their impact on the 2016 election, which saw Trump shock the world when he was elected president.

Variety Magazine reports the second part is “a virtual day-by-day account of the tempestuous relationship between Comey and Trump and the intense and chaotic first months of the Trump presidency."
