Brendan Galloway to complete permanent transfer as former Everton assistant offers lifeline

Brendan Galloway will complete a permanent transfer to Luton Town this week as former Everton assistant manager Graeme Jones offers him a Championship lifeline.

Galloway, 23, arrived at Goodison Park from MK Dons under the stewardship of Jones and Roberto Martinez in 2014.

The defender made his Premier League debut that season before impressing at left-back in place of Leighton Baines for a sustained spell in 2015.

Baines’ return resulted in loan moves to West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland while Martinez was replaced by Ronald Koeman.

He has not made a first-team Premier League appearance at Everton since 2016 but Jones has faith that he can get the best out of the England youth international.

Mick Hartford, Luton’s current director of football, also worked with Galloway at MK Dons.

It is understood Galloway was keen to restart his career after several frustrating campaigns and Everton were happy to release him from his contract.

He will be hoping to start when Middlesbrough travel to Luton on the opening day of the Championship season on Friday 2nd August. The fixture is scheduled live on Sky Sports.
