Brenda Edwards sobs as she reads poignant letter from King Charles following son's death

Brenda Edwards cried as she read a letter sent to her from King Charles following the death of her son Jamal Edwards.

The Loose Women panellist teared up on the show today as she read out the letter from Charles, the Prince of Wales as he was then, that had sent to her following the unexpected passing of her son earlier this year. Brenda recalled how she was at home when there was a knock on the door, and a smartly dressed gentleman stood there with a hat in his hand.

Confused, she wondered what he was there for before he passed over a beautiful bouquet of white roses and a letter that had her name on it. In it, there was a message from King Charles where he thanked Jamal for all his work.

Reading the letter for the first time in a number of weeks, Brenda was visibly emotional as she began.

"Dear Miss Edwards, I particularly wanted to write and say how desperately sorry to hear about the tragic news of your son Jamal. I can only begin to imagine what an immense and aching gap he will leave in your life," she began reading the letter.

"My heart goes out to you more than I can ever say. I will never forget Jamal's dedication and support in helping with my Prince's Trust over the years. His commitment as an ambassador has made the most enormous difference to the trust's work and has helped to change the lives of countless young people."

He then went on to thank Jamal for all the work he had done to help and support The Prince's Trust.

"I have such fond memories of the times I met him and can ill afford in this country to lose someone exceptionally special as your dear son. I feel this letter can only be hopelessly inadequate under such soul destroying circumstances and will probably be no comfort of whatsoever in making your sense of anquish any easier to bear," she read through floods of tears.
