Breathtaking images of aircraft in flight over Ireland part of new book for charity

These breathtaking images of aircraft in flight over Ireland are part of a stunning new book that is to go on sale for charity.

Funds gathered from the sale of ‘Irish Air Spectacular’ will be donated to St Vincent de Paul.

The hardback book features a unique collection of photographs of aircraft in flight including pilot’s eye views from the cockpit.

One beautiful image by Frank Grealish features an Aer Lingus Airbus 330 in flight where the Atlantic meets towering sea cliffs on the Aran Islands.

The book contains 160 pages of highly skilled photography and is designed as a coffee table style offering that guests can browse.

Fans of aviation will enjoy the book for its great examples of photography featuring Ireland’s spectacular scenery. The collection includes work by 15 photographers such as Pat Lanigan Ryan, Gerry Mooney and Steve Humphries at locations such as Croagh Patrick, Brittas Bay, Dublin Port and Dromoland Castle.

The photos span a 15 year period, capturing key moments in Irish life through an aviation lens.

The visit of President Obama in 2011, Flightfest over Dublin in 2013, the All-Ireland football final 2013, the National Ploughing Championships in 2014 and a flypast during U2’s Joshua Tree concert at Croke Park in 2017 all feature.

Bray Air Display and the first delivery of PPE equipment to Ireland at the height of Covid-19 are included in the hardback which is on sale priced €35.

Readers can soak up in mesmerising detail spectacular aerobatic manoeuvres by some of the UK and Ireland’s most talented pilots – Eddie Goggins, Richard Goodwin and Steve Jones.

The skill and expertise of the Irish Coast Guard, Irish Air Corps and Irish Parachute Club is also on display.

Sé Pardy, who organised the publication, said book sales have raised €35,000 for SVP to date.

“A big thank you to everyone who bought a copy, it is a wonderful way to help those who need support during these particularly challenging times,” he said.

Rose McGowan, SVP National President said it’s been a difficult year for the charity.

“This has been a difficult year for the Society as was 2020. So the profit from the sale of Irish Air Spectacular will be a great help in meeting the financial and emotional challenges faced by the many thousands who approach SVP for support,” she said.

The book is available to purchase online, as well as in selected book shops, with all profits from the sale of the book going to St. Vincent de Paul.
