Breastfeeding mum 'froze' in terror as 'scumbag' thief strolled into home

A mum sat breastfeeding her five-week-old baby girl was left terrified after a "scumbag" thief strolled into her home and snatched £110 cash put aside to pay for nursery fees.

Lucinda Inman was sitting on her sofa with little Ameerah, at the family home in Deane Road, Fairfield , when she heard the front door open at 11.20am yesterday.

The 27-year-old's partner, take-away owner Hasan Almouhammadi, was asleep upstairs when the man, aged in his 40s or 50s, walked up her garden path.

The mum-of-three said: "I was sitting on the couch breastfeeding my daughter, and as she came off me I was fixing her and I heard someone open my door, pull the handle down and walk in as if it was their own home."

Initially Lucinda thought it was her partner's brother, and began to cover herself up.

Police have described the robbers as wearing face coverings (Liverpool Echo/James Maloney)

She said: "I fixed myself, but no-one came into the living room. So I shouted 'hello', and then the little scumbag ran out. On the radiator cover in the hall we had £110 cash for my son's nursery fees.

"I had left it out for my partner so he wouldn't forget when he went to pick him up. I never normally leave cash lying around."

Lucinda, caught in a vulnerable position, said she could not even call for her partner.

She said: "I was terrified, I froze, I couldn’t even shout.

"All sorts was in my head cos I had my girl on me. And now all I'm doing is looking at my CCTV cameras when sat in the living room

"I had to ring my partner  from downstairs and said 'you need to get down here now, someone came in the house. He literally ran down the stairs and ran straight out onto Edge Lane but they had gone."

CCTV footage later revealed the burglar was with another man, who waited behind a bush while his associate walked up the driveway.

She said: "He was just so confident, it was just like he was walking into his own house. Every time two people walk past I jump thinking it is them."

The incident was reported to Merseyside Police and investigations are underway.

A force spokeswoman said: "We are investigating following reports of a burglary at a house in Fairfield.

"At around 11.20am yesterday, an unknown male entered a house on Deane Road while the occupants were inside and stole a quantity of cash.

"They then left the property. There is no suggestion the male spoke to or confronted the occupants.

"An investigation is underway and CCTV and forensic enquiries have been carried out.

"Anyone who has any information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 20000042428."
