Breastfeeding Moms Protest in Hong Kong

Australian Senator Larissa Waters reacts as she breastfeeds her baby in the Senate Chamber at Parliament House in Canberra Reuters

Dozens of breastfeeding mothers have gathered in a neighborhood in Hong Kong to breastfeed their children, protesting prejudices against giving nourishment to their little ones in public.

A non-governmental agency called the “Mamamilk Baby Alliance” organized the protest, calling for acceptance of breastfeeding in public places.

Hong Kong’s government promotes breastfeeding as the best mean to nurture babies, however, accepting this practice in public areas has faced many challenges, as mothers complain about long working hours, lack of support, and the absence of places dedicated for this purpose.
