Breast cancer screening rates have recently soared after coronavirus restrictions eased.
The number of mammograms done through BreastScreen Australia between July to September was about 12,000 higher compared to the same period two years ago.
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare has released a slew of information on Thursday, including how the coronavirus pandemic affected cancer screening rates.
BreastScreen services were suspended from March 25 because of restrictions in place to curb the virus spreading, before starting again in late April.
The number of mammograms increased through the following months, with about 3000 more conducted in July this year compared to July 2018.
In September the number increased to more than 90,000, higher than the 2018 figure.
The two other national cancer screening programs - bowel and cervical - were not suspended during the pandemic and authorities don't believe coronavirus had an impact on screening rates.
