William Shatner is heading back to his role as captain, except this time he’ll be staying firmly on the Earth as he captains Star Trek: The Cruise.

The six-day voyage will launch in January 2017 and will feature Shatner as well as other Star Trek actors, including Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis and Robert Picardo. Passengers will be taken from Florida to the Bahamas and enjoy a “totally immersive” experience.

This will include “intimate speaking engagements with leading scientists, influencers and experts”, special viewings of Star Trek movies on deck, life-sized themed board games, themed bars and a Star Trek scavenger hunt. There will also be music from the Enterprise Blues Band, a group consisting of Star Trek actors. Tickets range from $975 to $7,500.

“I am excited to be the host of Star Trek: The Cruise,” Shatner said. “When I was told that this was the first authorised Star Trek cruise and part of the 50th anniversary celebration, I just knew that my participation would be something that our fans would enjoy. It should be a lot of fun.”

Strangely, it’s not the first time a Star Trek cruise has taken place, with Cruise Trek running for years, but it will be the first to be officially licensed.
