Breakout Bengals LB Logan Wilson accomplished feat last done by Vontaze Burfict

The Cincinnati Bengals tabbed Logan Wilson as a breakout player in his second season, even giving him the communications headset for the defense.

He’s responded in a big way.

Through four games, Wilson has 40 total tackles — more than the 33 he posted over limited duty in 12 games as a rookie last year.

More importantly, he’s got a sack and three interceptions. Two of those picks came in the Week 3 win over Pittsburgh, which made him the first Bengals linebacker since Vontaze Burfict to intercept at least two passes in a game since 2016. The former No. 55 did that in a December game against the Eagles.

Also of note? Wilson’s five interceptions over his limited playing time has already managed to match Bengals greats like Burfict and Takeo Spikes. He’s the personification of a modern linebacker that can shut down the run well, but also drop into coverage quite effectively.

And just like that, Wilson is that great presence in the middle of the linebacking core fans have always been desperate to have in the AFC North.
