A 50-year-old woman died on the way to hospital after her car crashed into a bollard in Newton Heath, police have confirmed.
At around 11.50am yesterday morning (August 27) Greater Manchester Police were called to Droylsden Road following reports of a crash.
Officers taped off the road between Rossington Street and Averill Street.
Transport for Greater Manchester warned drivers on Twitter to avoid the area after the collision.

Police have now confirmed that the woman died on the way to hospital.
A spokesman for GMP said: "Officers attended and initial enquiries established that the vehicle had collided with a bollard.

"Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a woman in her 50s sadly died on the way to hospital.
"Enquiries are ongoing and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
