Woman dies in 'suspicious' circumstances after substance found at London hotel

A woman has died and guests have been evacuated after a "substance" was discovered at a plush London hotel this afternoon.

Her death is being treated as suspicious, investigators confirmed.

Tests later confirmed that the substance was heroin, the Metropolitan Police said.

Six other people were treated by paramedics at the Ramada hotel in Finchley, North London, and guests were evacuated as a precaution.

In a statement, the Met Police said: "Police were called at 2.44pm on Thursday, 6 June by staff to a hotel in Leisure Way, N12 to reports of a non-responsive woman.

"A woman, in her 30s, was found unresponsive by staff at the venue.

The woman's death is being treated as suspicious, police said (Twitter)

"London Ambulance Service attended and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased and inform next of kin.

"The death is currently being treated as suspicious.

"Officers from North West Command Unit remain on scene. Enquiries continue."

The London Ambulance Service said six people were treated, but not taken to hospital.

A spokeswoman said: "We were called at 2.46pm to reports of an incident in Leisure Way, Finchley. We sent a number of resources to the scene.

"Sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. We assisted an additional six people but they weren't taken to hospital."

When contacted by Mirror Online, a member of staff at the hotel said he was not allowed to comment.
