BREAKING: Woman charged in connection with Carluke road incident that left mum and three children injured

A woman has been charged in connection with a road incident in Carluke that left four people injured.

We told you last week how a woman and three children were left in hospital following a collision between James Street and Kirkton Street in the town.

Emergency services including 10 ambulances raced to the scene before the casualties were conveyed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.

Police Scotland has now confirmed that a 50-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the incident under alleged road traffic offences.

The incident happened last Wednesday, October 27 shortly after 3pm.

A woman in her 20s and one of the children are said to have suffered "serious but not life-threatening injuries".

Meanwhile, the other two youngsters involved are said to have sustained minor injuries following the incident.

An update on their condition has not been made available.

Cops also advised at the time that the driver of the car involved did not require any immediate medical assistance.

A police spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live : “A 50-year-old woman has been charged in connection with road traffic offences following a crash on James Street, Carluke last week.

“A Report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

A Clydesdale councillor claimed the four casualties allegedly struck by the car were a mother and her three children.
