Woman, 23, dies after being hit by two cars in Salford

A young woman has died after being hit by two cars in Salford.

The tragedy happened on Worsley Road in Winton at around 7.30pm on Tuesday evening (January 26).

The 23 year-old was hit by a Skoda Citigo, which had been travelling in a north westerly direction along Worsley Road, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. The woman was hit near the junction with Walker Road.

The woman was then hit by a Renault Clio travelling in the opposite direction.

Emergency services, including a large number of police and paramedics, responded.

Despite the best efforts of ambulance crews, the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is underway.

Both drivers remained at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made.

The road was closed for several hours following the tragedy.

Officers are appealing for witnesses - or anyone with dash cam footage - to come forward.

Police Sergeant Brian Orr from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "A woman has tragically lost her life following this collision.

"We're urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time and has information that could assist us with our investigation to come forward and speak with police.

"Were you travelling along Worsley Road at the time?

"Did you witness the collision or see the two vehicles beforehand?

"We're particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage from either before, during, or after the collision."

Anyone with information, or dash cam footage, is asked to call GMP's Serious Collision Investigation unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident number 2330 of J anuary 26; or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
