Who won boat race 2019? Oxford and Cambridge results from battle on Thames

James Cracknell helped Cambridge claim bragging rights in the the 165th boat race on Sunday afternoon.

The Olympic champion, 46, who is completing a Masters in human evolutionary studies, and his team-mates ensured it was a clean sweep on the River Thames.

It was their third win in four years as the Light Blues finished in 16 minutes 57 seconds.

Earlier, Cambridge emerged victorious in the 74th edition of the women's .

Cambridge dominated from the start and built up an healthy lead by the time they reached the half-way mark.

That advantage increased further as the race wore on as they emerged comfortable winners to retain their title with a third successive win.

They crossed the line in 18 minutes 47 seconds to extend their lead over Oxford to 44-30.

Cambridge captain Larkin Sayre told BBC Sport: "This is so special, we have been working towards this for two years. 

"This is the culmination of so much work."
