West Ham confirm two 2020/21 pre-season friendlies in Australia

West Ham have confirmed they will be travelling to Australia to play two pre-season friendlies ahead of the 2020/21 season as they will take part in the EVA Air Queensland Champions Cup.

The Hammers are one of three teams who will take part in the tournament as they take their place alongside fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace and A-League side Brisbane Roar, managed by former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler.

West Ham are visiting Australia as a team for just the second time in the club's history having travelled there previously in 1995 to play four friendlies to celebrate the club's 100th anniversary.

In 2020, David Moyes' side will play Fowler's Roar at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast on Wednesday, July 15. They will then face Roy Hodgson’s Eagles at the 52,500-capacity Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane three days later on Saturday, July 18. Both games will kick off at 10.30am GMT (7.30pm AEST).

Moyes said of the announcement of the friendlies: "It’s not only a great opportunity for West Ham United to play two exciting games in front of our fans down under,  it’s also a great opportunity to visit a beautiful country which I know loves their sport and is extremely knowledgeable about football.

"I've had the pleasure of going to Brisbane before and it was a fantastic place with warm and friendly people. I’m very much looking forward to going back with West Ham United for what will be an important part of our preparations for the 2020/21 season."

It's the second summer in a row that the Hammers will be jetting off east for some pre-season friendlies, having taken part in the Premier League Asia Trophy in China prior to the 2019/20 season where they were beaten by Manchester City in Nanjing and then by Newcastle in Shanghai.

This summer's tournament is sponsored by EVA Air, who are the Hammers' Official Airline Partner.

Pre-sale tickets for the matches in Australia will be available via Telstra Plus from 10am AEST on March 6 (Midnight on Thursday, March 5 GMT) before a public general sale begins at noon AEST on March 11 (2am GMT) from www.ticketek.com.au .

Details regarding official West Ham ticket allocations for both matcheswill be confirmed in due course.
