West Ham confirm club-record €45m transfer of Sebastien Haller

West Ham have confirmed they have smashed their club transfer record to sign Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt on a five-year contract.

The Hammers moved swiftly to secure the French forward after missing out on Maxi Gomez and in just over a week, the club has managed to secure his signature for €45m plus add-ons.

Haller will pen a deal worth around £70,000 a week, an enormous increase on the £15,000 a week he was earning in Germany, but will not fly out to China to meet his new teammates.

Instead, he will catch up with them at Rush Green when the players return from the Premier League Asia Trophy on Sunday and he could make his debut for the club in their friendly against Fulham next Saturday.

The 25-year-old arrived in London on Tuesday night to have his medical and despite his lawyer trying to change the parameters of the deal to include a Champions League clause, West Ham c0-chairman David Sullivan rejected the request but the club still managed to get the transfer over the line.

Sullivan has played a key role in negotiations over Haller, with director of football Mario Husillos having his input from China where he is currently with the team for their pre-season tour in China.

Haller scored 21 times in all competitions for Frankfurt last season as they reached the Europa League semi final, only to be dumped out by Chelsea on penalties at Stamford Bridge.
