Virgin Media is down: Network crashes for frustrated customers

UPDATE: Virgin Media says that the issue has now been resolved

It’s on of the most popular network providers in the UK, but it seems that Virgin Media experienced some issues this afternoon.

According to Down Detector, the issues started at around 12:41 BST.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 77% said they were having problems with cable internet, 18% with mobile internet, and 3% with TV.

Speaking to Mirror Online, a Virgin Media spokesperson said: "We’ve fixed the local issue which meant customers in the Nottingham area briefly lost broadband services. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, many frustrated users took to Twitter to discuss the outage.

One user wrote: "Virgin Media down again! Right in the middle of work! Your broadband is useless."

Another added: "I work from home and my internet has been down for the past 40 minutes."

And one said: "what's going on? AGAIN!!! How many times this year now?"

This isn't the first time that Virgin Media has experienced network issues during lockdown.

The network previously crashed at the end of last month, with more than 10,000 people complaining about connectivity issues.

If you're having issues in your area, you can use the Virgin Media service status tool to check your connectivity.
