Unai Emery explains Arsenal's transfer strategy this summer without Champions League football

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has admitted that the club's transfer strategy will change having missed out on the CHampions League.

The Gunners had the chance to earn a place in next season's competition by beating Chelsea in the Europa League final in Baku.

But they were put to the sword by an impressive second half Blues performance in Azerbaijan.

There is widespread feeling that Arsenal will only have between £40million and £50million in budget this summer, following their CHampions League failure, with that set to rise if they did win the Europa League.

And Emery has been quizzed on it during his post-match press conference.

When asked if the transfer strategy would have to change he said: "“Maybe, but I think we are a big team and I think Arsenal are a big name in the football world. A lot of players want to play here. We are in one process and we need to be strong in our way.

“The idea at the start was to get more competitive like a team, get closer to the other teams and we did that. It is not enough yet, but next season we have to continue in our mind.

“Transfers, I don’t know for the next year but the club is working and we will do our way. We have a lot of players with the possibility to improve. We have a lot of young players.

“I think we are calm and I am positive for our future, creating our way with young players.”
