Two women aged 30 die in horror smash after car crashes into tree

Two 30-year-old woman have died in a horror smash after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree.

Emergency services rushed to the village of Thorner near Leeds, West Yorks., at 7.30am yesterday.

It is believed the car crashed several hours before that at around 1am.

Despite receiving medical treatment both women died at the scene.

West Yorkshire Police have launched a full investigation into the crash.

Specially trained officers are supporting the families of the two victims.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw a black Renault Clio or who may have dashcam footage of the car.

It was last seen on Wyke Ridge Lane, travelling away from Leeds, at about 12.50am on Thursday.

Detective Inspector Paul Conroy from the Major Collision Enquiry Team said: "We are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of this collision which has sadly resulted in the death of two women.

"We have specially trained officers with their families at this difficult time.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the Carr Lane area of Thorner yesterday morning from around 1am and who saw the vehicle to come forward and speak to us.

"We understand that the vehicle was last seen at approximately 12.50am (October 29) on Wyke Ridge Lane, travelling away from Leeds."

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage is asked to call the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101 or online quoting reference 13200541398.
