Police closed off Ayres Road for a number of hours after the crash.

It was shut both ways at the junction of Henrietta Street and St John's Road.

A picture from the scene showed a badly damaged car behind some police tape.

At least one police car was pictured at the scene.

The road was reopened just before 12pm.

Greater Manchester Police have also been contacted for a comment.
