Two police officers hit by car and third person injured in horror motorway crash

Two police officers have been hit by a car and a third person has been injured in a horror crash on the M27 motorway.

Hampshire Police say they were called just after 10am today to a traffic collision on the eastbound stretch of the motorway near junction 12 for Portsmouth.

Four cars were involved and one person suffered serious injuries.

While at the scene two officers, who were out of their vehicles, were involved in a collision with a further car.

Those injured are being treated by paramedics.

The road, which was closed since the incident has just reopened according to the National Highways.

They tweeted: "The #M27 is now OPEN westbound between J12 #Cosham and J11 #Fareham following an earlier collision.

"There are no residual delays."

A Hampshire Police spokeswoman said: "We were called just after 10am this morning to a road traffic collision on the M27 eastbound near junction 12.

"Four cars were involved and one person suffered serious injuries.

"While at the scene two officers, who were out of their vehicles, were involved in a collision with a further car.

"Those injured are being treated by paramedics."
