Man and woman rushed to hospital after East Kilbride 'stabbing'

Police have cordoned off a large part of an East Kilbride street after an alleged stabbing this morning (Friday).

A man and a woman have been rushed to hospital following the incident, which the News understands involved a knife.

The incident is said to have happened around 9am in Derwentwater, with emergency services rushing to the scene.

Two large areas of the estate have been taped off to the public, with a police cordon in place as officers carry out their enquiries.

A source told the News that the area is not without it’s problems and that two males were seen fleeing the scene in a van after committing the alleged offence.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “’Police were called to a report of a disturbance shortly after 9.10am on Friday, September 18, at Derwentwater in East Kilbride.

“A man and a woman have been conveyed to hospital for treatment.

“Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.”
