Two more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Oldham.

The new cases bring the total number of COVID-19 patients in the borough to four.

The two new cases are known contacts of a person who had contracted the virus at an earlier date.

A statement posted on Oldham Council's Twitter feed said: "Four people have been diagnosed with Coronavirus in Oldham. The two new cases today are known contacts of an existing case."

It was announced on Sunday that a man diagnosed with coronavirus died at North Manchester General Hospital.

The man, in his 60s, had underlying health problems and had recently returned from Italy.

The hospital said he was being treated at its specialist infectious diseases unit.

More than 20 people in Greater Manchester have tested positive for coronavirus.

The latest data from the government released on Monday said the total number of patients diagnosed in the UK was 319.

The Department of Health and Social Care confirmed the news at 2pm on Monday as part of their daily updates.

More than 24,960 people in the UK have now been tested for COVID-19.

Four people have died in the UK after contracting the virus.
