Tower Hamlets stabbing: Man, 23, dies after suffering multiple knife wounds

A young man has died after a double stabbing in east London.

The 23-year-old victim was attacked at around 4.30pm on Sunday near St Paul’s Way, Tower Hamlets.

He was rushed to hospital but has succumbed of his injuries.

A second victim, believed to be aged in his 20s or 30s, was also taken to hospital for treatment.

He sustained less serious injuries.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Police were called at around 1630hrs on Sunday, 26 May, to a stabbing in St Paul’s Way.

"Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service and found two men suffering from stab injuries. They were both taken to an east London hospital.

"One of the victims, a 23-year-old man, had suffered multiple stab wounds.

"Sadly, he was pronounced dead later that night. His next of kin are aware.

"We await formal identification. A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course

"The second victim, aged 25, remains in hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

"An investigation has been launched. Officers are working at the scene and cordons are in place.

"Any witnesses or anyone with information should call police via 101 quoting CAD 5291/may26.
