Tottenham confirm Gareth Bale loan deal as Real Madrid ace finally makes Spurs return

Gareth Bale is now officially a Tottenham player once again.

Departing White Hart Lane all the way back in 2013 as he sealed a big-money move to Real Madrid following his stunning form in the Premier League and Europe, Spurs have now confirmed that the 31-year-old has returned to north London on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

Bale has won honours galore during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu but he has fallen way out of favour under Zinedine Zidane over the past couple of seasons.

The Lilywhites have continued to be linked with a move for Bale ever since his exit but now they have finally made their move as Jose Mourinho looks to add to his squad ahead of next month's transfer deadline.

Gareth Bale's brilliant welcome to Tottenham

Bale has rejoined the club on a season-long loan deal, with Spurs having the option to extend that for another season.

He has been handed the vacant number nine shirt, with Erik Lamela in possession of his former number 11 shirt.

Bale will, however, not be in action for another month, with Spurs confirming he has a knee injury that will keep him out until after the international break in October.

On his return, Bale said: "I think it's such a special club, I always thought when I did leave one day I would love to come back and the opportunity has arisen, it's a good time for me, I'm hungry, motivated and can't wait to get started."
