Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Giovani Lo Celso has been ruled out until the end of October through injury.
The midfielder lasted just 53 minutes of Argentina's clash against Chile in Los Angeles last Thursday and initially played down the severity of the injury.
"My problem was only a blow, it is not something to worry about," Lo Celso told the media.
But reports emerging on Tuesday morning was worrying for the Lilywhites as the Evening Standard claimed that Spurs were fearing that Lo Celso has suffered a serious groin injury whilst on international duty.
Furthermore, the report stated that the Lilywhites are concerned they could be without the midfielder for several weeks.
And this has proven to be true.
A statement via the club's official website reads: "Giovani Lo Celso has returned early to Hotspur Way after being withdrawn from the Argentina squad due to a hip injury.
"The attacking midfielder sustained the injury during his national team’s match against Chile.
"He will now undergo a period of rehabilitation and is expected to return to training with the first team towards the end of October."

Since arriving on loan from Real Betis on deadline day last month, Lo Celso has made two substitute appearances.
However, he will have to wait until November at the earliest to pull on the Spurs shirt again.
In other Spurs injury news, club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele is expected to return to the squad against Crystal Palace after missing the defeat against Newcastle United as well as the 2-2 draw with Arsenal before the international break.
