Tommy Fury's upcoming bout against Jake Paul has been cancelled, just 12 days before it was due to take place.
The two fighters had been gearing up for the fight for a number of months, stretching back to their head-to-head following their respective victories over Anthony Taylor and Tyron Woodley.
However, fans looking forward to the clash have been left disappointed following the confirmation that Fury has withdrawn from the encounter.
It first emerged that this was set to happen on Monday morning, before then being confirmed officially later in the day.
As part of that announcement, Fury explained the decision to pull out of the encounter as he said: "I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and broken rib.
"The beginning of my camp was going so incredibly and I never expected anything to come in my way from a victory on December 18.
"I can't express now disappointed I am and I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the new year. I want this fight to happen more than anything.
"I'm now regretfully putting my focus on recovery and a further reschedule date."
When was the fight meant to take place?
Fury was due to face-off against Paul in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, 18th December - just 12 days from the date when he announced he was pulling out.
Why is the fight off?
Fury confirmed the reason was due to a 'bacterial chest infection and a broken rib' - which confirms the different reports that stated the reasoning was due to illness and also those that said it was injury.
Fury has been struggling with a cold in recent weeks and it appears that it may not have been as routine as previously thought.
Given the illness and the broken rib, Fury was not fit to fight - but made it clear he still wants to face Paul in the future.
What has been said?
Prior to Fury's comments, Paul confirmed the change of opponent on social media and downplayed Fury's reasons for pulling out - instead judging the Manchester fighter to be 'scared'.
"It is official, Tommy Fury is boxing's biggest b****. He has pulled out of the fight, the Furys have pulled of that fight due to a medical condition.
"Who knows what the f*** is going on in that camp, I think he has a bad case of purseitis. I couldn't believe the news at first, it still doesn't even seem real.
"He fumbled the biggest bag of his life. Now he'll be watching at home, paying $60 to watch me instead of being paid millions of dollars to fight me.
"I've fought with a broken nose, I've fought sick, get the f*** over it, this is boxing. It's official, he was scared, I think the pressure got to him the s*** talk got to him."
What next for Fury and Paul?
Paul is set to face a rematch against Tyron Woodley on December 18th following Fury's withdrawal, ensuring that he remains active.
Fury's future, meanwhile, is more uncertain as it's unclear whether he'll be given another chance to face Paul or how long his injury absence will be.
He will find himself under a wealth of scrutiny following his decision to pull out and still has plenty to prove early in his career.
