Tom Brady's emotional farewell message to New England Patriots after leaving NFL side

Tom Brady has confirmed he is leaving New England Patriots with an emotional farewell message to the NFL side.

The 42-year-old quarterback spent the entirety of his NFL career with the Patriots, winning a sensational six Super Bowls with the Boston-based club.

In a statement on Twitter, in which he addressed his team-mates, coaches, club executives and staff, Brady thanked the Patriots for his 20-year career with them.

"To all my teammates, coaches, executives and staff, Coach Belichick, RKK and the Kraft family and the entire organisation," wrote Brady.

"I want to say thank you for the past twenty years of my life and the daily commitment to winning and creating a winning culture built on great values.

"I am grateful for all that you have taught me – I have learned from everyone.

"Although my football journey will take place elsewhere, I appreciate everything we have achieved and am grateful for our incredible TEAM accomplishments."

"I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to know each and every one of you and to have the memories we have created together."

Considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, Brady has won more Super Bowls than any other player in NFL history and boasts a record four Super Bowl MVP awards.
