A thug who mowed down a soldier outside a nightclub in the early hours of New Year's Day - leaving him with horrific injuries - has been jailed for eight years.
Hamza Ali Hussain, 23, was behind the wheel of a blue Mercedes when he ploughed into Joshua Adams-Mitchell, 21, in Batley, West Yorkshire, around 5am on January 1.
Dad-to-be Mr Adams-Mitchell was left bloodied and bruised in hospital, where he was treated for severe injuries to his eye and broken bones.
Detectives said the attack - which was captured on CCTV and followed an argument inside the club - was deliberate but a racial or terror-related motive had been ruled out.

Mr Adams-Mitchell, who was on leave from the army at the time, was in danger of losing sight in one of his eyes and could be forced to abandon his career due to his injuries, Leeds Crown Court heard previously.
Hussain had pleaded guilty in February to grievous bodily harm with intent.
He fled the scene but was arrested a short time later following the incident outside the TBC nightclub.

It was alleged that Mr Adams-Mitchell was deliberately mowed down after an argument inside the club spilled onto the street.
Mr Adams-Mitchell's sister Emma Louise Adams launched a fundraising campaign to support him through his recovery, collecting more than £17,000.
The page stated that Mr Adams-Mitchell suffered a bleed on his brain and faced a lengthy recovery.
It also said he had a pregnant girlfriend at the time of the incident.
Police welcomed the sentence.
Detective Inspector Mark Catney, of Kirklees CID, who led the investigation, said: “Hussain’s actions that day were reckless and violent as he deliberately drove his car into a crowded area outside a busy nightclub on New Year’s Day. This incident has left a young man with serious injuries.
“We welcome the sentence which has been handed down to Hussain today and hope that it will provide the victim and his family with closure and justice following this terrible ordeal.”
