Three cases of new Omicron variant found in Trafford

Health bosses have urged people to get vaccinated against Covid after three cases of the newly identified Omicron variant were found in Trafford.

Residents living in the borough have been asked to take extra steps to protect themselves and their loved ones from the new mutation, which is believed to be more transmissible than the Delta variant.

In addition to the three cases of the new variant that have been identified, the general covid infection rate across Trafford is also steadily rising, causing concern to officials.

“It’s important that we continue to do what we can to protect the vulnerable residents in our communities.”

People in Trafford have been asked to get their first, second, and booster jabs when eligible, or contact your healthcare provider to get the shot if you declined the vaccination before but have now changed your mind.

Health chiefs have also asked people to limit their social contact with others, and take a lateral flow test before mixing with people outside of your household.

Residents have also been encouraged to keep washing or sanitising hands regularly, wear face coverings in public spaces, and keep adhering to social distancing where possible.
